Joy Henkle and husband Bob are in the business of putting smiles on people’s faces.
“We run an Oregon whitewater rafting company,” says Joy. “And our guests work up hearty appetites. Years ago we discovered your fabulous spices, and we use them in many of the recipes we serve our guests.”
The basis for Joy’s Rogue River Dippy-Dip is Penzey’s Buttermilk dressing. She combines green onions and garlic freshly picked from the garden along with aromatic cheeses to create a yummy dip “that won’t overpower anything you’re dipping into it.”
Joy recently served her dip at a niece’s wedding where the guests continually asked, “What is in this dip? It is fantastic!”
“Now that made me smile,” Joy confides.
Dips are always great for gatherings, and this one from Joy is sure to disappear in a snap.
Mix the BUTTERMILK RANCH DRESSING and the water together; let sit for 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Refrigerate overnight before serving for best flavor.
Regular sour cream and mayo make the thickest creamiest dip, and after a long day rafting the calories don’t matter, but if you choose to use light mayo and sour cream, just refrigerate a few hours instead of overnight, as they get a bit watery, and mix well just before serving.
