Turn oven
to broil, (low broil if you have it). Cover a cookie sheet with foil.
Grate cheese into a large bowl, toss to combine. Butter bread lightly
but thoroughly. Place on the cookie sheet. Mince onion very finely, sprinkle
over bread. Shake on half of the ITALIAN
HERB MIX and CROUTON SEASONING
or GARLIC SALT. Mound
the cheese onto the bread, being careful to cover evenly. Sprinkle on
the remainder of the spices and dust with CRUSHED
RED PEPPERS. Place bread in the oven, broil 5-7 minutes until cheese
is bubbly brown and bread is crispy. Watch carefully. Remove from oven,
cool briefly, slice into 2" pieces and serve. Wonderful with Sangria
or as the start of an Italian meal.
