Antoinette of Flat Rock, NC sent us a great recipe for adding herbs to homemade white bread, so we tried it with our own Easy Bread recipe. Boy are we glad we did; it's fantastic! And, it's so easy—you just mix everything in a mixer and no kneading is involved!

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2¾ Cups milk
  • 6 Cups flour
  • 3 TB. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 TB. soft shortening
  • 1 TB. Fox Point seasoning
  • 1½ tsp. DRIED minced onion
  • 1½ tsp. dill weed
  • 1 TB. honey

Heat milk to 110°; dissolve yeast in milk. Add half the flour, along with the sugar, salt, shortening, honey, Minced onion, dill weed and Fox Point seasoning. Blend at low speed until mixed, then beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add remaining flour and beat on low speed until dough is smooth (approximately 1 minute). Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.

Stir the batter hard for 30 seconds. Spread into two 8 or 9 inch greased loaf pans (batter will be sticky). Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.

Bake at 325° for about 40-45 minutes, until golden brown.
